[Our Effort to 5S]

In manufacturing, 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) is not just a “cleaning activity.”
It is a critically important initiative that forms the foundation of quality, productivity, safety, and human resource development.

The photo shows an example of “visual management,” one aspect of 5S activities.
By managing stationery items in designated locations and fixed layouts, it becomes immediately clear “what is where” and “what is being used.”
As a result, we can eliminate waste such as “time spent searching” and “holding unnecessary extra items.”

5S is a fundamental philosophy valued by manufacturing companies, derived from the first letters of:
Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.

Sort: Separate necessary items from unnecessary ones

Set in Order: Arrange necessary items so they can be used immediately

Shine: Keep the workplace clean

Standardize: Maintain a clean and orderly condition

Sustain: Make good practices a lasting habit

By thoroughly implementing these principles, we promote “continuous improvement” not only on the production floor but also in indirect departments, thereby enhancing overall manufacturing productivity.

Takaishi Industry will continue to relentlessly pursue a state in which
“the necessary items are in the necessary place, at the necessary time,”
and will keep refining waste-free 5S practices.
