[SDGs] Our Efforts Toward Achieving the SDGs

Takaishi Industry supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), adopted by the United Nations in September 2015, are common goals shared by all 193 UN member countries, with the aim of achieving them between 2016 and 2030.
To reach these goals, there is a strong call for active utilization of technology and innovation from private companies.

At Takaishi Industry, we have embraced the philosophy of the "Sanpo Yoshi" (Three-Way Satisfaction), principle of the Omi merchants: "Good for the buyer, good for society, and good for the seller," as our corporate philosophy.
Recent years, we have incorporated the environmental management system "Eco Action 21" to implement environmentally conscious initiatives, and through research and development in the hydrogen major, we are also addressing social challenges under the themes of “Good for the environment” and “Good for the future.”

This is an example of our initiatives related to the SDGs:

[Affordable and Clean Energy for All]
Since 2015, Takaishi Industry has installed solar power panels at its headquarters and three domestic factories.

There are three main reasons we decided to install solar panels:

1. As part of our efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions under EA21 (Eco Action 21: an environmental management system).

2. When the panels were installed in 2015, the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) system made it economically viable.

3. Installing them on roofs and rooftops helps reduce indoor temperatures in summer. We also applied heat-shielding paint to office roofs for a synergistic effect.

Furthermore, in 2023, we added a large number of solar panels for in-house consumption to address the recent surge in electricity costs. Since this increase in electricity prices is significantly affecting our profits, we installed solar panels in every possible area across our factories.

Thanks to these efforts, we’ve been able to cut costs and have received positive feedback from visitors to our facilities.

Takaishi Industry is committed to operating an environmental management system through “Eco Action 21,” while incorporating environmental management perspectives into our business plans to continuously improve.

Moreover, we will continue to enlarge the knowledge and technology we have cultivated over more than 70 years in the rubber seal industry to address social challenges in collaboration with stakeholders, both in Japan and overseas.
