---
The heat resistance of chrome plating is generally considered to be 400°C or lower.
Standard chrome plating typically has a hardness of approximately HV800 to 1000, but it softens when heated.
Heating at temperatures below 200°C results in a hardness reduction of about 10%, while it softens rapidly when temperatures exceed 400°C.
[Causes of Softens]
In general, metal films deposited by plating are harder than metals produced by metallurgical processes.
It is said that heating causes its structure to change, bringing it closer to the properties of metallurgically produced chromium.
[Chrome Plating for High Temperatures]
Ultra-high-hardness chrome plating (Cr-C alloy plating) reaches a maximum hardness of HV1800 through heat treatment at 200°C to 600°C.
It has an amorphous structure upon deposition and transforms into a crystalline structure through heat treatment.
It is believed that the coating hardens due to dispersion strengthening of minute carbon alloy components within the microstructure during this process.
Our company was the first in the world to industrialize this ultra-high-hardness chrome plating.
[Features]
1. Heat Resistance & Hardness
Maximum hardness is HV1800 through heat treatment at 200°C to 600°C.
2. Defect-Free
It does not exhibit the cracks typically found in conventional chrome plating.
3. Corrosion Resistance
Due to its low defect rate, it offers excellent corrosion resistance.
4. Maintains Precision
With a thin coating of 5 μm or less, it preserves the dimensions of the base material.
Despite being a thin coating, it performs effectively due to the properties described above.

[Issues Under High Temperatures]
In addition to a decrease in hardness, other issues may arise.
・Resin tends to adhere to molds
・Sliding performance deteriorates
・Corrosion resistance decreases
Some cases may be improved. Please feel free to consult with us.

Original Surface Treatments
“Tfe-Lok“– High Durability, non stick & Low Friction
A hard chrome plating impregnated with fluororesin. For customers who aren’t satisfied with conventional fluororesin coatings.

“Hybrid Chrome Plating” – Superior Corrosion Resistance Beyond Ni-Cr Plating
In this treatment, a glass-based inorganic material is impregnated into the cracks of the hard chrome plating. This compensates for the weak points of hard chrome plating and significantly improves corrosion resistance
